Bicycle Mechanics - Who builds good wheels?

Ya know - I just **don't** have the time right now to mess with wheels. I'd prefer to spend some $$ and get what I want. To do that, I'll need to pay to have some wheels built. Who is a good builder who charges reasonable prices and stands behind her/his work?

What I think I want are some "Clydesdale" wheels - 36 spokes, deep V rims, 700c, eyeleted spoke holes, 3 or 4 cross spoke pattern, 100 mm front & 135 mm rear (both non-disc). Any recommendations as to hubs, rims, and spokes? I've read good things about DT spokes in stainless with brass nipples. The freehub has to be Shimano compatible (8 speed). I want reliability and am willing to pay a reasonable price for it.

Call Mike Garcia http://www.oddsandendos.com and just talk to him. He'll talk your ears off but you'll learn from him and get a better idea of what you need.

What about Colorado Cyclist or Excel? For the price, you can't beat it.

I got some Velocity Areoheads with Velocity Hubs(made by Formula) through Superspokes. I am 210 lbs and wanted lighter wheels without paying a high price. They recommended using titanium spokes. They built 28 1X in front and 32 3X in the rear and so far after about 350 miles they are holding up well. Time will tell. I paid $375 for them and they weigh (according to their builder) 1515 grams.

I have close to 1000 miles on a set of wheels (XT hubs, DT Chamion spkes, 3X, and Mavic X-719 rims) built by Colorado Cyclist. IMO they are great....no problems at all. About $275.00......2 years ago.
