Road Cycling - Storage ideas...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Friends -
I'm building a new house and will be moving in in a couple of months. I need to come up with a storage system for our various bikes: one road bike, one MT bike, my wife's general purpose bike and a Cannondale tandem.
I can consider floor or wall systems for this purpose; where can I see some different storage systems online? Any specific recommendations???
Thanks,
Resoman
Why spend alot of money. A 2x4 bolted to the wall studs, and some coated hooks. Or hooks in ceiling joists.
Go to Nashbar, Performance, and Colorado Cyclist for some ideas.

i bought an aluminum rack made by sport solutions. it goes from floor to ceiling and holds two bikes (can hold up to four w/extra set of hangers).
i bought it off their website as a blem (64.00+ship). it holds bikes securely and looks good too.

Here's how I store my bikes. Total cost: ~$20. Total time spent: 1hour. I use bungie cords because they absorb the shock coming from above - my kids bedrooms. One can even use $2 pulleys to lower/lift the bikes, but since the my bikes aren't very heavy, I don't mind lifting/lowering manually ;)

Here's a closer view.
I've wrapped the hook that holds the bike with duct tape so the paint doesn't get scratched.
