Not really fond of it. Mnt biking for rec is good but commuting home with the cagers, fighting for the snowy lane ain't. Then again I'm old and.......wise;-)

I should have said I like riding off road, and places with no traffic in the snow.
I'm lucky to have a choice.
I agree about being in traffic with the snow, I don't like it.

Big fan of winter trail riding. Ice, snow, cold - bring it on.
I got 6 hours in in sub 20 degree weather over the weekend. Good times...
I like virgin snow. Unfortunately it gets ruined pretty quickly. I hate frozen ruts and snow/ice that has re-frozen multiple times.

traffic here ruins everything, like it always does. however, riding in parks or on trails is awesome. i did my first snow ride yesterday. was fun, although i have a road bike with road tires and was not equipped (sliding all over the place). it was a bit scary and fun at the same time. i also discovered that my booties are not waterproof :(

Hey there BikeinMN - where do you find navigable trails for biking in MN?
I live south of the river for the Twin Cities and all that is available for me is road traffic. And this past weekend that would have been less than insane to ride and take that assured gamble.

At 3:00am not a problem, Its a blast riding into work. I have very few cagers passing me at that time of night. On the way home I catch a ride with a cager/coworker. I only wish I could ride home.
There have been times when I told the driver to let me off for the last 3 miles to ride home. (Just to get my fix)

Rode in 2 inches of snow last Sunday. It was by far one of the best workouts I've ever had on a bike. Once you get to know the proper clothing system , it's a breeze.
I want more (snow)!
First tracks last night! This is a strange year -- we usually do not get significant snow this early. Many of the trees still have their leaves. We also usually get a bunch of false alarms before the snow finally comes.

Hey Al,
The MN river bottoms are in fine shape right now and there may still be riding at Lebanon on your end of town but I'm not sure. You should check out the MORC message board at http://www.morcmtb.org/ for trail updates. The 9 mile crossing should be froze enough to cross soon so from the Bloomington Ferry trail head you could theoretically do a 40 mile out and back to the Mendota trail head all on river trails. I happen to live in Bloomington very close to the trail entrance at the Indian Mounds School so it's what I ride in the off season until it's impassible.
PS - is this the same Big Al who raced with Silver Cycling last year?
That's even worse than NYC...

You're right this place is terrible. I have to almost SIX whole blocks to ride in a crummy place like this!
As you can see the traffic is almost unbearable. ................................................................ :)

snow storm ... hmmm
Best riding weather yet!
I think I'll be bummed out when Spring comes.
:p
I had two sublime two hours rides this week where both times I got snowed on. My feet got cold on the first ride but on the second I was ready with my new home made SPD mountainbike boots.

Forecast for tomorrow 2-6 inches of snow...Woweeee......
I grew up in MN, rode in snow, loved it then. Now 42 years old, live in Arizona, never see snow, unless a rare storm puts some on the peaks of the mountains. Nice to see it while enjoying 65 degree weather in the valley. How many of you that love snow are under 30?

Good god, I'll fall asleep...
I mean, I will literally fall asleep, drift off the road, into a ditch, at 40mph down a hill, tumble end over end and DIE.

But, will you wake up in time to see the crash? :D
I can't remember If I sent this to you or not. The state of RI page that has a slide show with about 10 of my photos.
Yeah, you would probably fall asleep. I actually crave the stimulation of the road too.
