For all that you watch the Tour on TV there is no way you can realise quite what how good the mountain roads in France as. Couple the length, altitude and great weather with great road quality and considerate motorists and you have the recipe for the best rides you ever find.
If you want to try a holiday riding there it is remarkably affordable. I'd reccommend going to the Pyrenees:
