Bicycle Mechanics - Do stainless steel nipples exist?

Any one manufacture stainless steel nipples?

Why would you want them?
Between the rim, hub, spoke and nipple the latter is by far the least expensive and therefore the component you would most like to fail in any wheel-building mishap or rolling accident.
I'd rather nip a stripper than strip a nipple.

One of my older wheelsets the nipples corroded and started to turn green. It was a simple task to replace them so no real issue.

Regarding nipples stripping out thus protecting the wheel...I've never seen it, rim always potato chips first.

Or the spoke pulls out of the rim.

If you're rounding off the nipple shoulders you need a different wrench. I had to quit using my Park wrench, now using Spokey nipple wrenches.

I like those too.
For a while I used the park spoke wrenches, and i like how its fast. BUt the Pedros wrench i use has never rounded out a nipple. Plus, it has the 4 sided grip and the 3

Regardless of what kind of spoke wrench one uses, aluminum nipples can round out after the wheel ages and the nipples corrode.

Salt corrosion. I got into winter biking, and was wondering what I could do to prevent corrosion....

Titanium bolts, carbon fibre, stainless steel...etc...

Salt corrosion. I got into winter biking, and was wondering what I could do to prevent corrosion....

Titanium bolts, carbon fibre, stainless steel...etc...I lived next to the ocean for quite a while and my chain would get rusty overnight if I left my bike outside. The spokes on my commuter-bike would actually rust in front of my eyes and they'd snap whenever I tried to true the wheel. Although rain-crits wreaked havoc on my race bike's wheels as well. I suspect the difficulties with corrosion is more of a procedural issue than materials. I've even tried wrapping each spoke-end individually with teflon-tape before. No problems with frozen nipples, but the wheels ended up going out of true way too easily due to the teflon on the threads. Then I've tried the silver-based anti-seize, but that too was too slippery. SpokePrep or blue Loctite during the build will take care of all future galling, binding, corrosion issues. If your wheel's already built-up, then use the green wicking Loctite.

Stainless Steel Spokes With Stainless Steel Nipples Suffer From
