This morning, a local radio station raising money for a "Bikes for Kids" program set up at a local bike shop and had a few of the team members come by for photo ops and signings.

I took my 2005 TDF German-language program that I picked up in Germany this summer (2 weeks prior to the tour unfortunately) and got signatures from Johan Bruyneel (top), Pavel Padrnos (left), Jose' Azevedo (center) and Tom Danielson (right).

Would have gotten a few more pics but discovered after getting there that I not only had a low battery but also a nearly full card. Oops. I guess I could have at least asked the "boys" to smile for the camera!

Unfortunately, the weather here in Austin is not ideal right now. 48-degrees when I took the pictures but forecasted to drop into the 30's by mid-afternoon. The most common question to the riders was "Are you going riding today?" to which they answered "Of course!".

The guy in the photo with Johan is guy named Tom Morrison (I think), a local rider that's been taking them on their rides (since Lance isn't here right now, they need a guide). He said that Johan asked him to take the team on a 3 hour ride yesterday, so he took them on a 3 hour route he rides with his club, figuring they might shave 15 minutes off what the ride normally takes. They shaved 45 minutes off and he had to scramble to extend the ride to Johan wouldn't be upset with him!

Cool!

Note: The names on your center photo are not correct. Tom Danielson is on the far right, Jose Azevedo is on the far left and Pavel Padrnos is in the center.

Oops! You are correct sir! I have corrected the pic and re-uploaded it. I watched them sign my program and must have screwed up what order they signed it in. Pavel's is the only signature you can read, although it looks like it says "Padrnos Pavel". Do Czechs sign their names "last name first"? The other two just look like squiggles, although I guess you can see Tom's in the center looks like a big, flat "T" and a huge "D", and Jose's on the right looks like a "J" over the center of his last name. I guess when you sign as many times as they do you learn to economize.

dstrong,
If you do some of the rides that I suggested to you in a previous post, you may run into a guy wearing the full Discovery kit riding a Discovery issue Trek. He may be pulling a baby trailer. Don't assume that it is a poser. It could be my brother in law, Antonio Cruz. Say hi, tell him you're from Austin and he'll probably ride with you for a while.

Thanks for the heads-up, Redal! Will the baby be decked out in a full Disco kit also???? :D

No the baby is usually dressed like a little skater. Watch out behind the trailer though, he has been rumored to empty his toy collection along the bike trail.
