I just destroyed my front wheel. Is anybody using a Shimano Center lock Rotor (160 mm) on an Xt or XTR hub, with an Avid mechanical-Pull Caliper? I'd like to got to an XT/XTR wheel, but I want to keep my brakes. I think it should work, but I need to be sure.

-the caliper doesnt matter since its attached to the Fork
-The rotor attached to the centrelock hub just needs to be a shimano rotor, and the right size.
-Other people may be able to correct me if im wrong, but i think DT make adapters you can stick onto the centre lock hub to convert it into a standard 6 bolt pattern so you can use non-centrelock rotors.

I already answered this in detail in the crosspost in Mechanics

Free_pizza is correct in all aspects, as far as my knowledge goes. As for the adapters, they're there but they seem too expensive for me.

center lock rotors of the xt or xtr wheelsets will work with avid calipher provided they were the same size (diameter) as the original avid rotors.
I have used all three wheelsets on my bike. I currently just reverted back to 6 bolt avid rotors after having used shimano centerlock rotors for 3 mos. when i got my crossmax xl's.

Interesting. Why did you switch back to Avid rotors? Are they better than Shimano?

only because the crossmax xl I got had the 6-bolt rotor receiver.
