BMX - Rim or cranks

I have a completly stock 2005 Eastern Shovelhead. I either want to get a new 3-piece crank or a new cassette rim. Which part do you guys think I should get? I dont know how to put links on here, but the bike is on danscomp.com.

What cranks and rims do you have right now?

Cut him some slack. Cassette hub. A rim with a cassette hub. Cassette. 8 track.

Why don't you wait to see which breaks first or becomes a pain in the a$$ first. I suspect it will be the bargain, looseball, chinese 3pc. cranks. Is that a sealed cassette on that thing? The description on the Eastern and Dans websites aren't very clear.

What is with Dans description "100% chromoly top and down tube"? Are they trying to be misleading? It either has a "100% cromo frame" or it has a "cromo top and down tube"...

Considering this bike isn't full cromo, don't waste your money upgrading anything. wait til you can afford a full cromo bike with good cranks and wheels or live with the Shovelhead without upgrading.

Sorry, just noticed you already own the bike - not thinking of buying the bike then upgrading. My mistake. In this case, definitely wait until something starts giving you hassles then spend your money fixing the problem.

The cranks on it right now are just stock eastern 3-piece tubular chromoly cranks. The rims are stock 48H high-wall alloy rims with a cassette hub on them. Bikebros, I plan on just building my bike up as I get the money and eventually get to where I can get a new frame. Once I figure out if im getting new cranks or rims i'm going to be ordering a bunch of parts from dans to upgrade my bike.

If you've already got tubular cro-mo cranks and 48h wheels, why waste money now? I don't mind spending money, but I don't see why you'd want to replace those parts first. Just save for a frame. If it was your plan to replace wheels and cranks right away, you should have started with a better frame.

If there was a way to fit in Hungry Man TV dinners - the ones in foil, I would have. By the way, a customer complained yesterday that the freewheel on his son's BMX blew it's guts out after only 8 months. I had to excuse myself when he proceeded to buy the kid a GT Zone.

Your bike ALLREADY has a cassette hub and 3pc cranks (stock), wait till something breaks before you go out and buy something your dont need...

why would u need a new crank or cassette wheel.cassette wheels are expesive. maybe just buy a double or triple wall rim(just rim) and get it built with ur old hub and spokes. cheaper than a new wheel.

I have an Odyssey procassette wheel w/11t driver, 3pawl engagement. Can I replace the driver with a 4 pawl driver?

I know that you can use a 3-pawl driver with the 4-pawl cassette, but I'm not sure about the other way around.
