Dear dudes,

The bike home from work was the superfun-times. Let's all pour one out for Ullr.

Classic: skids that make Teadogg look like a little baby, Mexican dudes asking if I need a ride home, same looking baffled and amused when I decline the offer and can't wipe the ****-eating grin off my face.

Dud: Jeans, overheating.

(here's an idea: let's keep all Chicago wintry ride talk/planning here, eh? Am I the only one that's into keeping things tidy like that?)

Also: I'm heading out for some more in a bit -- bright green Marmot jacket, ski helmet, stupid look on my face. Holler.

hey

When you going out?

giboyeux
12-08-05, 07:00 PM
Soon-ish -- stopping at a friend's house first, probably, then: I don't know. I'll try and hop back on at her place, eh?

I've also gotta get out of the stupid work clothes. The ONE day I don't wear "appropriate" gear for the commute.

chicagoamdream
12-08-05, 07:02 PM
Yeah...I'd be down to get a drink or something and have an excuse to go out.

riding/playing in the snow on my bike today was great ...funny looks from motorists are classic. i thought about putting knobbies on my commuter but i felt fine with 23s... i just have to remember to wear glasses or goggles- my eyes were getting blasted...

giboyeux
12-08-05, 07:40 PM
Yeah, my 23s did me A-OK.

Gogs are essential.

Ok, I'm really leaving now.

Can't wait--heading to the Charleston. Smoke free, just like you!

Rode a bit to get some dinner and it went well. I've never ridden in snow like this so it was different. I am running 27s right now and I felt good. Almost ate **** once.

Did it look anything like this? (http://www.trevorash.com/blogphoto/snowfallsml.wmv)

That was about an hour ago. My first ride in the snow. Good times, good times :)

Definitely not! I was almost home and went through a walgreens parking lot that had some ice chunks in it. Nice fall though!

chomping on ice while riding in the snow is the cat's meow. it doesn't really hurt that much and, **** yes, it's so much fun.

Ate it once and only once on the way back tonight. I, uh, did it on purpose....

dude, you've seen me skid on dry pavement, and while it's raining - what do you think I can do on the snow?

are you steppin'?

I will destroy.

This is why riding on the southside is *way* better than up north - last night an older southside couple looked at me as i was riding by, passing cars in 6 inches of snow, and said to one another "that guy is like a stealth bomber - dark and fast!" (i was wearing dark clothing).

that's only one of the reasons I like the southside so much. everything is better down there.

My bike = sled

So much fun. I took some photos but it was only an hour into the snowfall. In other news, I dropped my chain on the yellow bike and slid down a hill. Whee!

Email from colleague regarding lunch:

"You are observant, steak tacos it is. Lettuce, tomato, onion."

steaktaco
12-09-05, 09:02 AM
I like onion and cilantro (all-traditional-like) on my steak tacos.

thank the good lord our latest holiday basket is filled with english muffins and honey. the first one was several boxes of margie's sweets—I think I had 15 pieces (gut-rot) the first day. I'ma get fat.

endum—anyone get sausages in their baskets yet? those are the best.

Please note:

Those metal things they throw down on the road to cover up "imperfections" and stuff? I did, uh, some "testing" and figured out that yes, they're slick and yes, you will fall pretty hard. Maybe even right in front of a bus.

I put cross knobbies on and geared down to 42x16 last night. **** rules. It's a shame I can't make it to PGH for tomorrow's alley cat...

The F.U.N.Z.O.N.E. that can be named is not the F.U.N.Z.O.N.E.

I thought that was you... but I also thought it was gcrew2 driving. we were headed the F.U.N.Z.O.N.E., and if that can be named then it is not the F.U.N.Z.O.N.E.

see my pic-o'-the-day tomorrow for clues.

I wasnt in a funzone this morning when I lost the contents of last nights dinner to the toilet.

teadoggg

my I was in a snowbiking funzone was this morning! riding the lakefront path (which was basically a sheet of solid ice) I crashed twice, hard. i skidded on the ice for a good 40 feet. It was funny, 'cause I was on my side and looking directly at my bike, also sliding. didn't hurt to bad, snowcrashes are always entertaining.

then I got chased by a cop for coming down a one way street the wrong way and running two red lights. never got me, thanks to a snowy alley. screw you raygunner!

Two miles west of the funzone yesterday afternoon, wiping all of the grey slush off of the bike. I'm thinking more and more seriously about "liberating" the blue Schwinn Super Sport that's been locked in front of the Rainbo, wheel-less, for six months and turning it into a beater.

Daerest FUNZONE --

You know you're my dogg, right? So don't take this the wrong way: you're not impressing anyone, bro. I know you've been laying low lately, and want wow the ladies (Hi Katrina!), but now is neither the time nor the place for this sh_t. I am very sick, and need both medicine AND dry, sticky roads on Sunday. Plz, knock it off.
