Heh, I didn't even know that they put out an album after Spiritual Healing. My brother informs me that Chuck Schuldiner died of cancer and their last album went to pay the family's medical bills. Durn, maybe I'll pick it up.
Recovering from pop with:
Neuraxis - Trilateral Progression - on tour in the states right now apparently. Saw them here with F*** The Facts a month or so ago, and it was a pretty good show, my first metal show in a long time.
What do you metalheads call this new-fangled metal like Neuraxis, etc? Or maybe Cryptopsy... not really death metal, but not more extreme than that, and not Pantera either.

Tech metal is such an unsatisfying explanation for me. And I lump that in with the guitar acrobatics bands, where these dudes are much more meat and potatoes.

Jeez, I hope you're not saying the Cobras have anything to do with the Gossip. I pray. Not that there's anything wrong with the Gossip per se, but if you asked me about veganism and where's a good place to get scrapple, I might get antsy.

I'm embarrased to say this but I'm listening to the Artic Monkeys - its a musical form of crack (as is the Art Brut album).
Now I need something screamy and shouty to purge my mind clean.

Nah, nothing besides a similar sound. Dunno anything about either band's stance on veganism but if it doesn't involve sucking on freshly killed still bloody animal haunch like a rabid dog i'm probably not down.
Shout bamalama? Stupidity!
PS: Art Brut is ****ing great live.
as fixed gearers, I know yall listen to music
what's on/in your record player/tape deck/cd player right now? [iPod listeners, no posting whole storage collections] ....in other words...what are yall fixed minds listening to right now
I'm a little late on this thread but a dear sweet woman just gave me the "Elizabethtown" movie soundtrack. Interesting and enjoyable. I haven't seen the movie. It will come out on DVD in Feb. I think.
Just listened to Mott the Hoople, "All the Young Dudes". Great oldie.

imoncrank and ieatrats, i'm going to go see the gossip for free on wednesday...i'd go to another, cooler show, but i can't afford it. still pretty stoked.
henry lee...sons and daughters are rad. i found a song of theirs online i've never seen anywhere called "johnny cash" that's pretty decent, too.

humancongreel - I'll have to look for that... being the Cash fanatic I am. yeah, the sons & daughters cd is pretty darn good. I'm such an idiot for missing them at Cafe DuNord a few months ago. heard the show was stellar. love their double vox attack.
can't believe I forgot to add Tom Waits "Real Gone" - such a great disc.
seems like I've been playing it for a year straight.

anyway, i'd be jealous of me, too. in fact, when i lived in boise, i was jealous of all the people in portland who get to see them play any old time. now i'm one of those people, and i don't blame anyone for jealousy.

i heard they were supposed to tour with the decemberists last fall, and got all excited, but that seemed to never happen. that would have been a good show. i love their drumming, the way they use drones, the double vocals, their sexy scottish accents....especially the woman.
