I wouldn't be surprised if talking heads influenced hot chip as well as other current synthpop bands. They're great.

Anyways, ahhhh music gear. My other source of bank account drainage, besides bikes.

My current hardware setup: Akai MPC 2000XL, DSI Mopho KB, and DSI Tetra. There's also an Akai APC40 that's just out of the picture, but I haven't been using that one too much lately.

Techno is a bad generalization, though I'm not sure if you mean SPECIFICALLY techno. And it's perfectly fine to not get into one or any forms of electronic music. Everyone's entitled to their own taste.

Yeah the mopho kicks ass. I've lost count of how much i've spent on gear, but it's stayed relatively level for a few years, since I'm constantly selling and buying. I have a bad case of gear ADD.

I like Bloody Beetroots but they do not sound remotely close to any of the genres that you listed.

Beetroots, not Beatroots.

Don't see or hear the relation to tarnce. They do have a few techno-ish sounding tracks. This genre has too many silly subgenres and alternate names. Most people generalize it under electro (way off. Not even close to real electro). In Beatport they classify it as Indie Dance. Guess it's a little more "general" and encompassing. Works for me... though sometimes I'm forced to just call it electro when some people ask cause it's easier, and saves me from having to explain.

Warp/aoki definitely not trance.

I saw aoki play a free concert at FSU. Everyone was there for Weezer so hardly anyone gave a ****. He deserved a better crowd. The lights were even up while he was doing his thing.
