Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - OT: What music is everyone listening to?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

re: CocoRosie ugh -- i wish them both a long painful death.. oh wait, that's what they already sound like. the most affected voices and immature musicmaking i've ever heard. like using a toy ambulance as a sound maker is really "avant garde."

Yeah, that affectation is painful. The whole, yes, it's affected, and we're conscious of that, and we know that you know we're conscious of that, and you know that we know that... all the nodding and winking gets tiresome for me, as they've obviously spent way more time on their outfits than on making any music. It used to be you could know something was at least tolerable if it was on Touch and Go - now it pretty much means "run screaming." For this band and Supersystem anyway.

To counter this, I had to listen to some Agathocles - Black Clouds Determinate

ha! you and turd are dead on. a single or two sounded interesting on the radio, but after
hearing the whole cd it was time to return/resell the cd. yeah, the sleeve art / photography
shoulda been the first clue.

Let's Roll Over Coco Rosie With A Tank! (convenient that you can just replace Lionel Richie there and it still works) with:

in the shower: Pig Destroyer - Terrifyer
on the way to work: Soilent Green
working on an spreadsheet: Kill The Client - Escalation of Hostility

weird, i've heard cocorosie mentioned alongside devendra banhart, joanna newsome, et al. which is good, and i don't think most of it is that avant garde, or even trippy or anything. weird.

anyway...i need to get me some soilent green, and my agathocles is in storage. damn.

second favorite springsteen there. first is a tie between "the river" and "nebraska".

interesting story though...i guess it doesn't happen as much anymore, but people used to always call radio stations when they had a kid an request "born to be wild". my dad called when i was born and requested "born to run".

I used to rock an eight-track player, but it ate my Highway to Hell and some Rolling Stones album. Yes, this was two years ago. No, I am not joking.

Sunday in the shop, I played a CD called "The Copulatin' Blues CD." It is great listening if you love ribald old blues. And who doesn't, really?
