aside from mastodon and lightning bolt, still emo garbage..
another board i post on does a friday mixtape where people post tracks.. anyone down? say post 3-5 mp3s of your weekly jams that we can rock out to. although the other site has a installed player...

i keep wanting to comment on everyone's good taste in music, but there are too many things for me to keep them all straight...
and where did that bjork/p. diddy thing come from? that stuff is hilarious.
EDIT: MLPROJECT, how would we go about that? that's a fairly cool idea.

basically everyone on teh other site has their own site and sticks it on there and remote links it... mostly designers with their portfolios online and such
remixes of tracks of Isis'(s -- depending on your personal grammatical preference) Oceananic album. Some interesting interpretations.

ahhh...i see. i guess i'd have to get my own site, then, to do that. which i should do anyway, for band purposes. myspace is pretty lame and i don't know of anything else except starting my own website.

Panopticon came out last year. It rips. And that band freaking kills it live.

you might like it then. i thought it was underdramatic. i mean, it showed his years in the 60s with the pills and all, but you know that stuff was intense...if you've read his biographies, you know coming off the amphetamines was an awful experience. there's only a couple scenes there where you get the full effect of what he must have been like when he was high, how much he scared everyone else like that. it's sort of underdramatized, in my opinion.
though it is very accurate, and really brings to life some things that just seem like words on paper when you read them. especially interesting to me was realizing just how long he stayed married to his first wife while he was chasing after june.

we could all just make a fake myspace band website that everyone could go to... it'll host the tracks (ie no strain on your site's bandwith) and it has a standalone player thats nice

12-09-05, 04:15 PM
well, yeah...you can only put 4 songs up there, though.
oh, wait, i get it. i thought you meant one for everyone, not one for each person. durrrrr.

and lightning bolt's "hypermagic mountain"

the absolute greatest part of leviathan is the full album art. let me just say holy ****. i don't know if the cd contains the whole thing, but i think the vinyl does.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y44/jacob_thm/mastodon.jpg
edit: oh god photobucket and their resizing... gross. google it, maybe you can find it larger
as for that new lightning bolt... how is it? i've been craving some new **** like that lately and happened to see that in plan 9 the other day... didn't even know they had a new one.
as for me... currently the power of the dragonflame by rhapsody. these guys are unbelievable, if you have any appreciation for metal (what some may call "true" metal), do yourselves a favor and check them out.

i haven't heard rhapsody, but it looks like if you like that sort of thing, you'd like dragonforce.
i think of them as kansas doing an epic thrash soundtrack to a video game, and all of them are likely huge d&d fans.

dragonforce somehow always comes up in conversation when people talk about rhapsody. and god do they ever ****ing rule. i have to see them live. seriously.
for those that don't know them, you can hear a sweet clip from the song 'fury of the storm' on the ytmnd http://takeshikaga.ytmnd.com/ (ps that is my favorite ytmnd ever) (pps this is more evidence that i am a big internets nerd)

iawtc; that is why they are so awesome
you have to learn to be stoked on the cheese factor of it all
humancongereel

yeah, totally. i have a friend who calles them "life metal--as opposed to death metal". the cheese factor makes it fun, the speed makes it exhiliarating. i love life when i listen to dragon force. gonna do that now...it's been a crappy day.

kitty wells "it wasn't god who made ***** tonk angels"
shuffler's getting stuck on some classic country. yes yes yes.
oh...liz phair "hot white ***". done with the classic country, into dirty lyrics, mediocre adult alternative pop.
i'm glad i got the chance to see cut the **** live. i haven't gotten around to hearing annihilation time, but i've heard good things.

what's on/in your record player/tape deck/cd player right now?
I am off the bike for a week - maybe more due to a bit of permanent birth control intervention at my local hospital on Thursday. So i did my "emasculation mix" on the morning of the op and have been listening to it since. I went for a bit a variety to cover any expected and unexpected mood swings:
> Bloc Party :: silent alarm
> Spoon :: gimme fiction
> The Decemberists :: picaresque
> James Blood Ulmer :: Birthright (this album is just off the chart)
> Robert Belfour :: Pushin my Luck
> Medeski Martin & Wood :: Notes from the Underground
> Mothers of Invention :: Weasels Ripped My Flesh
> Fugazi :: Repeater (always guaranteed to lift the mood)
cheers
Marty
