Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - OT: What music is everyone listening to?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

i love how so many of you are listening to really obscure music that hardly anybody has heard of.
You guys must be so cool...
wow, I haven't heard that arguement since high school.

It is of my upmost humble opinion that we should not listen to music just because its easy to swallow. I guess we all have a right to be 'asleep' as much as possible, but........damn. If your gonna listen to against me 'punk' do a little history review on who did it first and much much better.
j
Are you implying that they're not good because of this?
no.... he was speaking as though everyone was trying to be elitist, and I was pointing out that the bands weren't obscure if you have ever taken much time to discover new artists or go explore music on your own
and why would you assume that I judge music based on what label the artist is signed to
I was making a comment on obscurity, not quality
yeah, dude....totally. ****...i'm dead, the berzerker, the smile adventure, tribes of neurot, brighter death now, commit suicide, masakari, sword heaven, pile of maggot infested viscera...all on major labels. virgin, columbia....you know, the usual.
okay, so my non-metal/noise tastes are usually not extremely obscure, my tastes in obscure field recordings of folk music being an exception....but still, i'd like to point out the idiocy of this generalization.
none of those were on that page
I specifically was speaking of the artists posted on that page
which is why is said "on this page"
but thanks for getting super defensive to someone who was taking your own side

Excuse me? Are you suggesting that listening to Against Me! means I listen to nothing else, or that I have no idea of "what punk is"?
Would you care to enlighten me, oh knowledgeable one, as to what I should listen to appear suitable 'punk' to your oh-so-wise eyes?
I'm serious, there's nothing I love more than an "I'm more punk than you" debate on the internet.

gorilla biscuits - 2006 tour 7"
okay, i've recanted somewhat. the new GB stuff doesn't outright suck. i've come to terms with the fact that civ grew up. it's not a bad ep. if it was a new band, i'd probably think they were oookaaay.

Actually, I watched the Fountain tonight. When I saw it in the theater I really liked the score, which is rare. Then I found out it was Mogwai with another band, so that made me excited.

Yea the score totally blows me away. I loved Pi and Requiem's score as well, and it is the same composer. Mogwai being involved totally put the cheery on top.
The movie was amazing to say the least.

propagandhi - potemkin city limits
an album i thought sucked really bad until i kept hearing individual songs on shuffle. i kept thinking "man, this is g-...wait, this is new propagandhi!"
while propagandhi has always been my favorite punk rock band, i've decided that they're slowly claiming the spot in my mind labeled "best punk band ever". NOFX used to be there.
as strange as it sounds, i would also put shai hulud up there, too.

i really like propagandhi and wish i could see them, though when i saw the weakerthans (john samson's current band) they covered a propagandhi song.
i also ******** love shai hulud.
