Triathlon - How old you are? How many TRI have you finisied?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hello,
I am new in the sport and I would like to know in what age group you belong.

I'm 40 yrs. old - completed 3 tri's in 2005 - 2 sprint distance and 1 quasi-olympic distance (swim was 750m but bike was 40k and run was 10k). Altogether I've completed 17 triathlons - except for the 3 I did this year, the rest were all done in the late 80's and early 90's. I've completed 4 half IMs and am targeting doing a half-IM in 2006 and an IM in 2007.

I'm 15 now, my first tri was last season. Did the Xterra Sport (sprint distance). I loved it then, and I'm planning to compete in the Xterra Points Series this upcoming season. :)

Upper end of the 35-39 age group (38) and I have completed 5 of 6 tri's since becoming a born-again triathlete last year...my 2nd included an ambulance ride. This year I did two sprints and two olympics and my plan for '06 is 2 sprints, 2 olympic, and 1 Half IM.
Now 47
First Tri life (mid 1980's - 1993)
2x-IM Hawaii, (7) 1/2 IM's, about 25+ Olympic distance....injuries took me out for a while
Second Tri Life (since 2002)
1x IM Hawaii, (5) 1/2 IM's, 5-Olympic
Also, since 2000 15-Marathons (4 of which were Boston) about 50+ Bike specfic races (all TT's) and 30+ open water swim specfic races.
For 2006 I hope to complete in close to 25 events, 4 of which will be marathons, (2) 1/2 IM's and a ton of other fun events....maybe just maybe, my yellow brick road will lead me back to Kona.

Jeese, and I thought I had done a few. Bravo MHR.
Well, I am 21, and have completed approximatly 3 Tri-a-Tri, 20+sprint, 3 Olympic, and 1 1/2 IM.
Also have completed 3 1/2 marathons(none of wich were boston[joke])
Also countless indoor short course races(7 years of competitive swimming in BC).
Also race in a ITT once a week from when the snow is off the road untill it comes back.
38 and I've done about a dozen, mostly sprint distances. I'm going to focus more on bike racing this year so I may only do one or two in 2006

25yo. I think I've done around 30 races? I did 8 or so this season. I'm a poor grad student funded by NIH now, so I won't be doing as many as last year when I was funded by my engineer salary.

35.
2005 was first season.
3 Tri's. One Oly, two sprints.
I have loved adding the biking to what used to be just swimming and some running. Rode in 3 centuries this summer. Plan on doing more this coming year.

I've only done two. Both last summer, both sprints. Not sure what's on the ticket for next year. I live in a new town and need to discover their local races...

I'm 53 and have done only 3 tri's; a sprint (800M/12 miles/ 3.1K), an olympic (mile/25 miles/ 10K), and an Ironman (IM USA Lake Placid). I also qualified for, and ran, two Boston marathons After turning 45, I realized that my body could only "tolerate" one big effort each year. By that I mean that I would pick an "A" race (e.g. a Boston qualifying marathon in the fall) and plan all training/racing with the "A" race in mind. I'm very injury prone after a good effort in my "A" race even though I usually feel great. When I turned 50, I began to cross train seriously, and did my 1st tri, a sprint. My future goals are to qualify for (and run) Boston each time I enter a new age category (e.g. when I get to 55-59, then 60-64, etc.). I also want to do an Ironman during each age category (maybe the year immediately following my Boston effort. I'd love to do Ironman Canada, and Lake Placid is a GREAT course...I plan on doing another there in 2007. As I get older, it seems like I'm losing speed faster than my endurance, so I'm inclined to focus on longer stuff.

46. I started doing triathlons last season to show myself I "was back" after a year of being ill and then getting a pacemaker. I did 2 sprints last year. This coming year I hope to do at least one olympic.

I'm 44. One half IM, probably 10 olympic and maybe 30 sprints. I still want to do a full IM but I have a fairly rare running injury now (anybody had Osteitis Pubis?). So maybe I could get in shape for one in Phoenix AZ in spring of 2007.

Probably about 100. From sprint to ironman distances.
21 years old.
Many years ago when I was even younger than I am now (as young as 12) I did a bunch of short distance triathlons, can't really remember exactly how many, but about 5 I think.
Triathlons is what first made me interested in any kind of sports at all! Heck when I first started at 12 I hated the running.... But by the time I was 13 something clicked in my head and I'd become a runner, and I basically drifted away from triathlons.
Now as my rebirth as a triathlete I've done a few more triathlons (when I was 19 I saw by chance that the first ever Auckland Half Ironman was going to take place in a couple of weeks so I thought I'd do that, because I remembered again how when I was younger (say 12, 13, etc..) that one of the things I really wanted to do is an Ironman. And I wondered why the heck hadn't I done that already by now, before I had the excuse of that I couldn't legally because I wasn't yet 18 by now I'm 19 so I most certainly should have done it by now. Unfortunately when I came to realise this it was too late to enter for Ironman NZ, however I did at least get to do the first ever running of the local Half Ironman a couple of weeks later).
At 19: Olympic distance triathlons, and one week later the Auckland Half Ironman.
At 20: Auckland Half Ironman and Ironman NZ.
Plans for this season at 21, to repeat what I did at 20 but hopefully a little faster!

35yo. 4 sprints, 2 olympic as relay (I did the run portion), a few 5ks, one 8k, two 10ks, 4 1/2 marathon, 1 marathon. Been doing them apx 2.5 years. Still very slow and need to loose a lot of weight, but love doing the training/races. Makes me feel a lot better. Plan on doing a 3 or so more sprints and trying an olympic on my own if I can drop 30-40 pounds by the end of the year.

58, (59 per tri rules) did my 1st on Apr 22 this year. Came in 2nd in my age bracket (out of 10 or more) . Doing one aug 5 and one in florida oct 1st. Oddly, competition high in my age bracket as some folks are retired and get to train and/or recover more. Lots of fun wish I'd of done them when I was younger (used to bike race only).
