Mountain Biking - Worth buying 2001 Hardrock, parts maybe?

I currently have a Trek 4500.. my friend just bought a new stumpjumper, so he is selling his old hardrock. Is it worth buying ? Maybe to transplant some parts to one or the other.. or just use one as a backup bike? If so, what would you guys consider a decent price? Wondering if it's worth it, or just save up for a new bike altogether. From what I understand I don't think the hardrock has anything spectacular compared to the 4500 that would make me want to buy it now. Opinions anyone? Thanks!

Trek is a 2001 as well, and yes the hardrock has front suspension.

As far as I've searched, HR has better fork and drivetrain.

Sorry for the confusion... I even confused myself, lol.. I have a 2002 Trek. So that site is not the same..my fork is a judy tt with 80mm of travel, not the jett with 60mm. The 2003 4500 isn't much different as mine now as far as components. The specialized is the A1 Comp FS or the A1 FS, he's not even sure.. :rolleyes:

I'd just take a look at his bike and see if he has any parts that you need and that are worth the money he's asking.
