Hey guys,

I know this isn't framebuilding, but it is close. I want to try to make a carbon saddle, and am not sure about making the mold and the carbon layup. From my research, I should put a layer or two at the bottom of the saddle for extra strength, and just layer carbon on that. Any help you guys could give me would be gread :D

What are you using as a mould? A well broken in Brooks.your favourite saddle? You can take a cast from the saddle to create the mould.
You need to align the rails correctly or just attatch directly to a post.
Figuring out the number of layers requires a destruction test and Damon has some useful insights. You can use differential thickness to add springiness where you want to.

thanks for the links. actually, I was going to adapt the designs from a few of my favorite saddles(the good features) into one saddle. I was thinking I could first carve it out of foam, then make an impression mold to actually use for making it.
