I have a Truvative Firex crankset and Raceface Prodigy. Both models are a couple years old (not sure about the Raceface) and the Truvative has been used for two years. Raceface is brand new. Neither is ISIS drive.

Which one is better overall. Not more expensive just overall better (lightest, strongest, most dependable, etc.)?

Thanks

I'd say Raceface have the better rep...but I haven't tried Truativ cranks before...

Raceface Next LP have impressed me so far, and the Prodigy cranks got rave reviews in MBUK!

Cheers

I'm not sure it applies since I have RaceFace Turbines (square taper) and not Prodigies so I'll just speak about the reputation of the company in general. They're mated to a RaceFace Taperlock BB and those aren't the only RF components on the bike (I also have also a SYStem stem and when it's a bit cold out, my Acqualite jacket). So far, RaceFace stuff has been bulletproof for me. Very high quality products. The cranks are almost four years old and still have no signs of play at any of the interfaces. No complaints from or about them... As a matter of fact, that's the only problem. I would love to go to Next/ISIS but so far I haven't got an excuse to replace my crankset other than the fact that the Nexts look sexier... not that there's anything unattractive about the Turbines. |8^) As far as Truvativ is concerned, I understand they're also comparable in quality but have not had any long term experience with them... only test ridden a couple of bikes with their cranks and couldn't really tell the difference in terms of crankarm stiffness or such. However, the RF rings seem to shift smoother... on par with Shimano.

Like khoun, I also have Race Face Turbines with taperlock. My cranks are about 3 years old and still going strong. I don't have any experience with the Truvativs, but I do know they make a good crankset.

I would suggest the Progidy crankset

Race face. I find the quality higher in several of the parts I have by them. Especially the bb but that is another storey.

Thanks all.

I have decided that the Raceface is the best bet. I just have to decide which bike to put it on.
