It's tough to think of just one but here's one for starters. On hte west side of the Alberta/BC border there's a forest road that runs north from Sparwood all the way to Elk Lakes Provincial Park. The little community of Elkford has supplies and the park is truly spectacular. You camp practically anywhere in between for free, but there are also a few BC Forest campsites and a forest cabin as well. Plus you can take the Old Telegraph Trail over the divide to Kananaskis Lakes and continue north.

How about some other nominations?

There is a bunch of them but the most memorable was riding the dirt road from Elk River (north of Steamboat Springs CO) to Encampment WY. 90 miles of primitive road and wilderness except for two cowboys and thier herd I met near the Wyoming/ Colorado border who invited me to camp with them. We made camp that evening near a small lake. They broke out thier pack rods and one offered to loan me his rig to catch dinner from the lake . The lake was full of brook trout! we caught enough to feed the three of us. Those were the best tasting trout I ever ate! For dessert we had a pint of homemade blackberry brandy that my hosts in Rifle CO had snuck into my panniers while I wasn't looking . We sat around talking and nipping homemade brandy late into the evening. perfect....
