The Saddle River Park is located in the center of Bergen County, New Jersey -- about 12 miles west of New York City. The park runs through the towns of Rochelle Park, Saddle Brook, Fairlawn, Glen Rock, Paramus and Ridgewood. The bike trail that runs through the park is entirely paved. Riding the loop, round trip, including the side trails, is about 18 miles total.
These are some pictures that I took when I rode through the park on a cool, drizzly Friday afternoon in mid-October. The park was practically deserted. Notice that everything is still very green, unusual for mid-October in the NYC area.
Although the fall was very warm, winter is here with a vengeance. We've already had two snow storms and another big storm is predicted for this coming Thursday.
I started at the Southern Entrance to the park, located on Railroad Ave. in the town of Rochelle Park.

The park is infested with Canada Geese, which can make the ride kind of crappy -- literally. Every time I ride through this park, I have to wipe the goose poo off my bike when I get home.

I'm now in the Saddle Brook section of the park. This is where the trail passes under the Garden State Parkway.

The next two pix are the duck pond in the Saddle Brook section. If you notice there aren't any ducks in the "duck pond", it's those crap filled geese again. I think the geese must have eaten the ducks.

There's the "Red Mill". Actually, this was never a mill. This land was once part of the estate of a wealthy New York City businessman that made a fortune in the sugar trade. The "mill" was actually a pump house that took water from the river to irrigate Mr. Moneybag's estate.

This is an X-Mart bike that someone either abandoned, or stashed, in the "mill". It appeared to be in good shape. I left it unmolested.
