i was just wonderin if it would hurt my shock (judy tt) if i removed the rubber boots on it i have seen many high end shocks have no boots so would it really kill it if i took mine off?

Well, possibly! If you hate the fork and are dreaming of a new one... then go for it! Removing the boots will only spead up the process of degradation. Dirt and Grim gets on the stanchions, the stanchions slide through the O-rings, the O-rings get damaged, the fork now suffers from Stiction! If you have grease ports, like Manituo's low end line, the Stiction is negligible...
I took my boots off at the begining of the summer, hoping it would sabatoge my fork. Dammit, not only does it look like a real fork now, but it performs exactly the same as it used to (just have to inject grease every other ride). It's your call bro'

Thinking of something here. If a shock is supplied new without boots, does that not imply that the manufacturer is confident enough with the seals to keep the crud out of the internals?
But if it's fitted with boots, then maybe they are there for a reason and removing them might expose the internals to crud?
I think the el-cheapo bikes have boots to hide the 'cheapness' of the fork?

I think Manitou won't honor their warrantee if you remove the boots, so I left them on my Mars Elite, but only for a year.
I'm guessing that the higher end forks have better seals than the cheapie forks.
Also, Manitou forks' boots are notoriously bad at staying on and particularly difficult to get on right to begin with. So if you can't get them to stay on, just take them off.
