Wow, why's everybody hatin' on the Beatles? Admittedly, Ringo's a stiff (or should be, according to some here), but the other three were great musicians. Don't like Lennon's politics? Hate his wife? What's the reason?

I don't know what you mean, but I'm not a great fan of them either. However it must be said that they are, perhaps, the most influential band of all time.

Doubtful. I have felt this way for 21 years.

Backdoor Boys=Backstreet Boys. In my opinion, the beatles were little more than a boy band. Just some good looking brits with a catchy sound. Sure, they had some influence. We would have made it without them though. I assimilate their popularity to the engineered popularity that is the pop music industry.

That would be after Dylan told them their music was good, but the lyrics were crap. Lennon took that message to heart.

So the Beatles mainly made pop music, but I don't think you can compare them to bollox modern music industry manufactured rubbish like Back Street Boys etc.

Do you see many of those type of bands telling their record company to go shove it and forming their own label for which one of the goals is to promote new artists? Apple was pretty much the first indie label.

Go have a listen to the White Album, there's some very non-commercial (read very acid influenced) stuff there. They weren't all "Love me do".

This is supposing that you haven't screwed up your life past the point of no return before realizing the error of your ways.

Look, this is an argument that I have had with many people in the past, and it never gets resolved. Some people like the Beatles, some don't. If the Backstreet boys did more acid, they might have grown the balls to tell their label to f*** off, but in all reality, they are probably just some pretty faces that can't really sing. I don't like the beatles, probably never will, because I think that they are really just pop stars who overstayed their welcome.
