Foo - Aaargh, careful with sniping software

So I sniped an item on ebay with Jbidwather , only I forgot that I had a pending snipe on a similiar item but forgot to cancel--it turns out I won them both--nearly identical items. Luckily I'll find a use for both, but I now need to pay for both :( Oh well. Ones is a Shimano FM-40 7 speed 36 hole cassette hub and the other is a 32 hole Acera 7 speed cassette hub. Turns out I have an extra rim for that 36 hole fm-40. I'll build it and have yet another backup rear wheel:D

How close to the auction end time can that sniping software get? Manually, I can consistently turn sub-7 second snipes. Best to date is 2 seconds.

You can set it to what you want. I've currently got it set to 10 seconds. With the connection speed I'm on, I know I could get away with 7 seconds. I mainly use the sniping software because I am in and out of the office all of the time and will not be at my computer when a lot of auctions close. Not that I buy something new everyday or anything--once a week at the most.

I snipe by hand, it's much more fun! I try for 1-2 seconds, which requires anticipating a 1-2 second lag. About half the time, I end up going over by a second or two and missing the end. That's part of the excitement! Kinda like gambling and driving fast cars motorcycles...

That's exactly what I do. I put my maximum bid in for what I want to pay, it just doesn't get entered until the last few seconds. If the bid goes higher than what I'm willing to pay, I leave it alone and let someone else win it. I'm only paying $19 including shipping for everything, so I'm not out that much. I hate starting bid wars that cause the price to skyrocket well beyond what the product is worth. Also, when I browse e-bay, I'm only interested in things that are ending soon, I hate waiting for days for the auction to end. One of my products I'm selling was bid on at the last second, several watchers, no bids so no war was started. It sold for only $.99, but hey, I still shipped it. I think I made about $.15 on it after sellers fees, but oh well. As a buyer, you get some great deals, and sometimes pay too much. As a seller, you win some and lose some. That's the risk in auctions.
