on yesterdays ride up baldy road i was passed by 11 identical silver porsche carerra "s"'s. they were seperated by a maroon camry from 9 more identical silver porsche carerra "s"'s. these were seperated by a toyota pickup from 5 more identical silver porsche carerra "s"'s. 25 in all. very surreal. high bling factor.
just thought i'd share.
thats nothing special for socal.

there's plenty that's not special. all i know is that in 33 years in so-cal i've never been passed by 25 of anythings that were identical.

WAY cool! Reminds me of when we had the Olympics here. There were numerous sightings of "twin packs". My favorite was a similar number of all black, black tinted Toyota Sequias (sp?) with "Rossignol" along the sides.

More than likely a press event put on by Porsche. Those were probably the new Cayman S's. I've had the pleasure of being on a few of those things. A real kick. :)

There are plenty of weekend car meets in socal where you can find 40 of the same cars pass you by. I've seen WRX meets of 60+ cars.

I saw 100+ Miatas up at Mt. Pinos a couple years back....
You should've seen when Gumball was at NYC...

What's the weather like on Baldy right now. I might go do that climb in the next couple of weeks. Did you go all the way to the ski lifts?? I agree, that's an odd sight, especially on that road. I wonder if they went up and then drove Glendora Ridge Rd and GMR, that would be fun in one of those.
What's the total distance of the Mt. Baldy climb starting at the base via Glendora Mountain road?? I'll be up there this Saturday. (12-17)

But for the want of one good pile of broken glass the Porsches could have all been stopped.

On last Saturday's Montrose ride we noticed some light snow cover up there...

I caught that on Sunday, I could see it from Orange County, looked like it just dusted the higer elevation (maybe 8,000'+).

Back when Montana had no posted speed limits on their highways, there would be sports car tours there where they'd race. 10-20 high end Mercedes flying down the highway at 140mph. Worked great until they ran up on Grandpa doing 45 in his Buick with his left blinker on.

No they use the Cayennes for that
I guess I'm not really impressed. My brother's at poverty level, yet he drives a very blinged out BMW, brand new. He's making payments.
I'd be more serious if you said you got passed by 25 Pinarello Dogmas... now THAT'S serious bling to me. ;)

I saw a dozen 41' Fountain "go fast" boats all lined up on the Cheaspeake Bay once. They were all painted identically for an Arab Prince who was taking delivery a few days later. I'm guessing each is in the $400,000 range.
I went to the martin guitar factory and saw a D-100...
(thats like the same thing as 10 porsches for those of you who dont know)

Kinda funny how the vast majority of Arab ideology strikes down American type indulgance (unless the media is lying, but they would NEVER do that  ). Everyone except the privilaged few who profit vastly from it.
Anyway, the most exotic thing for NW Ohio I have seen was about 50 state troopers going down the highway.

just out of curiousity, which car would you prefer?
Carrera S: http://static.shop.kolesa.ru/images/files/7760-5.jpg
Or, the Cayman S:

The Carrera is classic, but I love the hips on the Cayman.

27 miles from GMR to the skil lifts, with about 6,500' feet in climbing.
This is what I call a gumball traffic jam..

Reminds me of my youth. I was working as a busboy at a local resort when the ferrari club had their annual meeting. Flippin things were everywhere. Silly, ubiquitous Testarossas were ignored. Rollup in an old Daytona & you'll start to turn some heads. Sounds of revving v12s echoing off the hills... Certainly a beautiful weekend it was.

Coolest thing I ever saw was 20 or so DeTomaso panteras going down the road.
Funniest thing was seeing 4 of them pulled over on the roadside 50 miles up. Looked like those guys left the stock cooling loop in place :p

I would probably fall off my bike right about then ;)
Thats like if there was a professional team that passed me, I would first try to desperatly kill myself to keep up with them, then I would fall off my bike in shock and pain :D
