Hello fellow forum friends. My track bike is too big for me and I need a new frame, but I can't find one. I'm looking to buy a used, steel, lugged, track frame because I like track geometry. I'm about 5'8" so I think I need a 50cm, but I can never find them and they're hardly ever on eBay. I've rummaged craigslist for months, but no luck. I can't spend a lot (college student syndrom) so I know I'm hard pressed to find one. Any suggestions? Does anyone have an old frame they're not using? Thanks everyone.

I think you could safely go up a few cm, but what do I know?

However, I have a 5'2" friend who rides a 50, and I'm 5'10 and ride a 57 (its a bit big, but not enough to bother me)

try looking for a larger size, perhaps.

Well, I have a 53cm now and it's too big. However, I think it's a 53 c-c.

slightly o/t, but it amazes me how small most folks' frames are. I'm 6'1" and even my 'fast' bike is a 59. I prefer around a 61 or 62 for comfort. I see folks my size on 53's and 55's and wonder how they can do that...

i'm 5'7 and i ride 52cm - 53cm, do you have short legs for your height?

is your current bike "too big" because the top tube hits your crotch? if so, then the 50 might be ok. i'm 5'5" and i ride a 48 or 49 (even though i could manage a 50 or 51) because those size bikes usually have short top tubes (around 50 or 51). my problem is that i have short arms, so if i have over a 52 top tube i am way stretched out. anyway... good luck!

I don't really know if I have short legs or not, but i do hit my crotch on the top tube of my 53. That's why I figured I needed a 50.

i'd make some measurements before you go buying a new frame, at least of your inseam.

that will give you a better idea of what size frame you need. (if you can afford, go get fitted at a bike shop. usually costs $70 - $100).
