Anybody have specs on DALMAC's "The Wall"?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Anybody have specs on DALMAC's "The Wall"?

Looking for specs on the East Jordon "Wall" included in the DALMAC ride. Grade? Length? Elevation change?

Is that the one near Cadillac, like east of McBain?

If that's the one they're calling "The Wall", it's not that bad. But when you consider that some of the Dalmac riders aren't super-fit, it's big enough to hurt them.

I've never ridden Dalmac, but I lived up there for a while. I don't think I could find it on a map. You'd have to ask a Damlacian.

I believe it is between East Jordan and Boyne City. I don't know exactly what road though. I spend a lot of time up there and plan to find it this summer. I have heard from experienced riders that it is not that bad, but it typically comes at the end of a long day so it seems much worse. The biggest "mountain" in the area has about a 400 ft vertical, so it can't be too long.

From looking at maps with some Topo markings, I would guess it is Pleasant Valley road just north of the intersection of Behling and Pleasant Valley in Charlevoix County, MI. Approximate Lat/Long of 45degree, 10' North and 85 degree west. If anyone has the TOPO program, they could probably map it for you. I won't have my copy until Christmas (hopefully).

I rode DALMAC many times in the early 80's. Michigan is flat so it's not much difficult. They really should start it at the Macinaw bridge and ride in the UP - that would be beautiful!

You guys should try this Wall. The famous Manayunk Wall, complete with unbearable humidity in the summer.

This link: https://tinyurl.com/7pljr shows what I think is "The Wall" just outside East Jordan, MI. Looks like about 350-400' in a mile or so. About a 6-7% grade average, although the second half looks a good bit steeper.
