Oregon Scientific ATC-1000 video camera has two threads and a mention in a couple of others. The product is a small flashlight size camera that has multiple applications. It is fairly cheap and does work.

Advocacy people want to record traffic incidents, Roadies want to train with it. But it is applicable to BMX'ers (it comes with sample mtb videos) , commuters for the same as advocacy, Touring for journals, Winter cycling for bragging rights, Fixed for stunts etc..
When will the first court case happen with video? Will cars use them? If a significant amount of cars and riders use them will it be safer for everyone? Will road races allow them?

My point is where do you discuss a new common interest tool for bikes without many links and searches?
Is it possible to post short videos in the future?

Disclaimer: I don't have any association with the product other than buying one, and realizing most forum members would be interested/informed by reading about it.

So I take it you are suggesting a product review forum?

If so, then that is a good idea but not the most practical. well because when you have that forum, it will need to be split into a road/mtb/commuting etc. sub forums. or have a review sub forum in each forum. Which is alot.

I may be reading what you wrote really wrong also...

Product reviews would be side stepping the idea with this camera. It has the potential to make drivers more aware of bikers. Imagine a club ride with a rude driver, sued by the riders with 30 videos as evidence. How about a Critical Mass with 20 videos?
Except I don't visit the BMX, FG, Road, etc. I suspect most people visit a few sub forums. So the problem is logistics, posting in each forum is too much, and safety, everybody should hear about this product.

General Cycling!
Not to be pain, but it's in Advocacy and Roadies and Commuting now, should I link all these? I think everybody should know about it, kinda a public service.

There we go! :D

Yes I would say it should go into the general cycling section.

Lemme check with the other mods what they think...

I don't want to sell these things, would it be better to put it below my name? I would have to give up Gandhi, but oh well....

carless, I think you are creating a problem where none exists. if people need these things they will find them.

Aside from being dismissive, it's a logistical problem: not a trivial to you, important to me idea. Take a glance at advocacy and count the conflicts with cars. I think video of incidents is a society changing idea. Maybe not this video camera, possibly not in your area, and you may disagree. My bank has a video screen, you watch yourself while standing in line, traffic cams are on the morning news, and the conviction rate of police video's is astounding. London is covered with video camera's and it decreases crime.
This particular product is orders of magnitude better than others. I have looked for recording/video camera's/ digital camera's for recording routine commute's and errands and always ended with 4 lbs of inappropriate equipment and a $500 price tag. I tried to mount a Palm to my helmet and a digital camera to my handlebars. This is $100 and $60 for a SD card. Next year a knock-off will half that. It weighs as much as your car keys, records for 3 hrs, TV quality picture (you can hook it up to your tv) and is water resistant. It mounts on a helmet, or handlebars.
And no, I am not associated with the company. If your a Mod, congrats, if your not, I enjoyed the "Neoprene Glove" discussion.

I realize there could be bandwidth issues, but how about being able to upload short video to the site? For example, I think a lot of people in the A&S and Commuting forums might want to load short videos of a roadway situation and ask, what would you do here?
