Touring - Cycle the coast of Brazil

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hello!
Join my cycling trip along the coast of Brazil from Sao Paulo via Rio de Janeiro to Salvador.
For the details check http://www.majobe.de/pedbras/index.html!

Coelho I just came back from Brazil, where I combined travelling by bus and bike: from SP to Foz and bits here and there in cities like Salvador, Fortaleza, São Luis, Belem, Brasilia , in the state Amapa, the Transpantaneira and in the NP Serra do Canastra and finally in the NP Itatiaia and towards Parati and from Parati to Ubatuba.
Though the road conditions were so awful I couldn't cycle, I really enjoyed going down towards Parati, despite the bad weather.. did you know that Ubatuba has a nickname? Uba-chuva! It rains all the time.. had the worst weather in 3 months of travelling!
Very beautiful though... probably the stretch in the NP around Parati will be the most beautiful stretch of road on the trip.
Hi Ivana!
Great, so you did a trip much longer than we are planning. Somewhat around whole of Brazil.
There are two roads to Parati and I don't know which one you took: one coming down from B116 wich is steep an in very bad condition and another one coming around from "Ubachuva" (it does not rain all the time, but nobody can garantee for the weather!).
Would be great to hear more from your experiences!
There are quite some cyclists doing Brazil, see the "useful links" page (http://www.majobe.de/pedbras/Useful_links.html)
Have a good day!

I did the one that leads across the national park which is unpaved on the RJ side with approx. 10% gradient.. took me 4 hrs to walk just 10 km. and 15 minutes for the remaining 6 kms on paved road.
Ivana!
Thanks for that info, looks like we won't take that road :-) I would really like to stay in touch with you.
