25 degrees? Just how I like it :D

the only place i'm sitting (if i'm not home or at work) in 25 degrees is on my HEATED car seat!

well.. i'll agree that i'm sPoiled... but i'm NOT soiled!!

and yes... heated seats.. LOVE them on cold california mornings! (heck.. i use mine in the summer if hubby has the a/c on his side of the car turned too low in the summer! )

i also have a remote start... so i can warm the car up an make it toasty warm before i have to get in it (or cool it off in the summer!)

yep... i'd say i'm just a tad bit sPoiled!

OMG!! You know there are children dying all around the world because they cannot afford shoes, shirts or pants?

I would feel some shame at this point... I don't know if I can go to a ride like ****, which might support such actions :(

Heated seats are nice. I don't have them, but I've tried them on my parents' cars. If you need them in the summer, though, then I suggest getting a car with dual zone (or quad zone) climate control! May I recommend a Mercedes E55 AMG? In wagon form, it will haul your bikes with ease, give you quad zone climate control as well as heated and ventilated front seats, and keep up with a Corvette going 0-150 MPH (at least in a straight line).

my car has dual climate zones... he keeps HIS side too low sometimes!

one bike will fit in the back of my car if we fold the rear seats down! when hubby wasn't riding (hurt knee) we used my car (better gas mileage and more comfy  ) than his truck!

after a scare last weekend with the bikes... i think we need to buy one of those funny looking hondas (kleenex box on wheels) so we can keep the bikes INSIDE! (i think someone tried to steal one or both of them when we stopped on the way home from stagecoach     thank goodness they were locked (cable lock) and the would-be thieves didn't have bold cutters!

A ricer is someone that has a car and starts to modify it for all show and no go. Someone that adds ridiculous accessories or features. A ricer was originally used for anything that was an import, but through time has transfered over to any car. A ricer will add features that are ridiculous and out of the ordinary. In CA, having heated seats is RICE.

You can't possibly be mad at me--can you? I only speaketh the truth! :D

Pie ride is coming up, please dont bring any weapons :)

ahhhh ok... no... it was a standard thing with my car..... i didn't add the heated seats... it came with it! (if you got leather.. you got heated! YAY!) so they are NOT ridiculous and out of the ordinary    it has GPS too.. so i don't have to worry about getting lost! the lady (or man) in the dash does a good job of telling me "next right turn" or "next left turn" or "destination" (sometimes you want to just slap them and tell them to SHUT UP!) again... i didn't ADD it... it came with the car... at the level i bought it at...

i did add the "ground effects" kit and fog lights (yes.. FOG lights in california)... cuz both of those looked cool! oh.. and i added an auto dimming (or whatever you call it) rear veiw mirror... i don't have to reach up and flip the switch.. it does it automatically when someone comes up behind me with bright lights! that's it.. the rest was "stock" with the level of car i bought!

If the kleenex box you speak of is the Element it is the best car, truck, van, SUV or whatever the hell it is for transporting bikes. My buddy has one and you can fit 4 bikes in it without taking off anything. If you have a baby you can even fit the kid seat and 2 bikes in the back.

Now this (http://www.arielmotor.co.uk/04/frames.htm) is sparse! And I want one! (Sadly, it's a bit outside the reach of a grad student stipend.)

Anyway, as for pie ride, I think a visit to the LBS this weekend is in order. I should try to get some stuff to keep my legs and ears warmer. With all of my gear on, they were the parts that felt like they would freeze the last time I went down a sustained 40+ MPH descent in cool temperatures. I doubt we'll be going that fast, but I do believe the temperatures will be even lower.

hey ovoleg, i suggested carpooling a couple weeks back. If you can fit two bikes in your car, I'd love to carpool with you. i live in Koreatown. I can chip in for gas.

Let me know if you'd like to do that.

Otherwise, I think I'm gonna have to borrow a car (cause I don't have one)...it may be a tight fit in that car for 2 bikes though.

worker4youth,

I decided to just drive out there from L.A. that morning. If you are still interested in carpooling please let me know. I already spoke to ovoleg and he's riding with me.

If there is a Supergo-turned-Performance nearby, you might see if they have any Supergo warmers left on blow-out. A couple weeks ago I picked up some arm warmers for around $9.

Wish I was free on Sunday... Not necessariy to ride (120mi, 9k' climbing... ouch), but I have a vanagon camper w/ 4-bike rack that would make a great SAG-mobile.

BTW ... for those who were on the Nov BF Orange County ride, I made a 4 min video using the photos people contributed. At DVD resolution, the MPEG-1 file is 64 MB. Anybody interested in a copy?

Hey CycleFreak,
I may finally get a chance to ride in Palos Verdes this Sunday :D . I've been wanting to ride up there for about a year now, and haven't had the chance. I didn't think I was going to get to ride at all this weekend, and somehow I think I can weasle this in with a trip up to my parents house. I'm looking forward to the switchbacks of PV Drive East and all the other good ones. Got any must do's on in the area?? Take it easy...

With weather like this I am so happy to know that we will have a SAG wagon on the journey. I can put the lights, extra food and a fur lined parka in the car!
Please remember to bring some extra cash to tip our volunteer SAG's. this is gonna cost them a bit in gas and their time.

I'll be down in San Diego on Saturday, so I won't get any practice the week before the event. In fact, I'm gonna need to detox for a week to be able to balance on the bike after this excursion... Pub Crawls are FUN!

I have a utility that can chop it up into 10MB files. You then (presumably) DL them and use a batch file to "glue" it back. The "glued" file plays fine. I just don't know of a suitable place to upload 10MB files. I tried 1 or 2 but it was painfully slow. Any suggestions?

.. Palos Verdes this Sunday ... looking forward to the switchbacks of PV Drive East and all the other good ones. Got any must do's on in the area?
These are all good:

[a] PV Drive West (Malaga Cove), Paseo del Mar [R], Paseo Lunado [name change], PV Drive W [R], PV Drive S to the "switchbacks" to ...

[b] PV Drive S/E (the switchbacks) to Marymount College, Crest Rd [L] (this is the top on the E side of PV) to ...

[c] PV Drive E (descending to), PV Drive N [L], Eastvale [L], Sunnyridge [L] (the toughest of the PV climbs) to ...

[d] PV Drive N (going W), Via Campesina [L], Via del Monte [L], Granvia Altamira [R], Ridgegate, Highridge [R], Whitley Collins [L] (top on the W side of PV) to ...

[e] Whitley Collins, Highridge [L], Crest Rd [R], Hawthorne [L], PV Drive W [R], Via Coronel [R], Via Zurita [L], Via Fernandez [R], Via Coronel [L], Paseo de la Cresta [R], Granvia Altamira [R]

You should try [c]; Sunnyridge is one of the few hills where I must stand on a 39-25 to make it. Eastvale-Sunnyridge is a one-entrance tract (at Eastvale) so after the climb, you must turn around and head back down.

[d] and [e] are spectacular since they overlook the Pacific from Catalina up towards Santa Monica. Enjoy!

I just got back in from my ride. I rode with my slow group this morning from So Pasadena and on the way back I turned off onto Hwy 39 >> East Fork Road >> GMR and back to So Pas and managed to log in about 75 miles. It's been a while since I climbed up GMR from the other side but that 6 mile GMR climb from from East Fork was just torturous pushing my low gear of 39/26. Man, I wished for a compact ring several times this morning....:D
I saw lots of riders this morning on 39 and also coming up GMR from Glendora. Both top and bottom gates were still closed. I took some pics and will upload them later in another thread...
