Hey folks.. I have been active in the mtbr.com forums for a few years but just recently stumbled across this site when doing searches related to winter riding. I decided to register after seeing a number of posts from people in the Twin Cities area.
I live in Minnetrista (far western suburb of Minneapolis) and ride year round. This time of year, I use the Southwestern Trail several nights/week and get out on Lake Minnetonka once the ice is thick enough. It can be either cool or freaky to be out there at night, depending on conditions and how many of those lovely ice fissures you have to jump when crossing a bay. In the summer, I ride all over and in a couple long-distance rides (Ironman 100 and MS 150).. not sure what it says about me to say I am averaging 2-3000 miles/year on a mountian bike. Good thing I have a Brooks saddle! My ride is a Cannondale Jeckyll (FS).. in winter months, outfitted with Nokian studded tires and Lupine HID.
