I am getting ahold of some servo motors which need encoders and new brushes, but other than that they work. So i would like to use them.
My question is, what does a servo drive consist of? I have been told the drive itself is much simpler than that of a stepping motor (which appeals to me). I will want this thing controlled by pulses generated by the computers Parallel port

small motor, gearbox(usually), and control circuit..........I believe they usually are setup like a VCO(voltage controlled oscillator)--meaning a constant pulse or frequency holds them in position and they move proportionally to the changes in the value of that signal, but they can be setup to run in one direction w/o stopping usually too

check out some radio control websites or electronics controls websites for more info, we used them when I was in college and my R/C vehicles use them of course
