Is there no end to this madness?

Looks like the Krate collectors are hard at work giving themselves Christmas presents...as usual.

yeah. that's just the ticket. weighs more than most modern front forks, and works crappy to boot.

keep the ebay post coming while I jot down all this in my notebook here so I can look out for this stuff when I go to the local flea market and buy the stuff for $2 dollars and make a killing on IdiotBay

Along the same lines, could someone do a search on "Huret Luxe" and look at those items and explain to me just what makes a beat up old RD from the late 60's worth $150?? I may be a bit of a noob here, but I don't get it. Are Huret Luxe derailleurs all that desireable?

$197 for a Huret rear derailleur !! Unbelievable. These pieces of heavy metal junk barely worked brand new out of the box. I think $2 is more than enough for these paperweights. I think that the Luxe was a lighter and long cage derailleur that was used on some European road bikes in the late 1960's. On another note, I have a 1972 era Italvega Speciallisimo that I installed a Huret Jubilee rear derailleur only to save weight. It works OK and it is light years ahead of an Allvit. Yes I am only being vain to save weight on this very light bike.

Condition ... condition ... condition

How many NOS copies of this POS derailleur are out there? If one wants to build a pristine Varsity or a Sting-Ray for show, this is a hard-to-find essential item.

My first Bianchi had a Huret Allvit derailleur set, and I got tired of frequently snapping gear cables.

I purchased a used, but absolutely NOS in appearance Schwinn App. Huret Allvit RD from one of my parts supply fellows for $25 a few months back. It's now on my '71 Schwinn Continental.

Hmm,

I took a Huret Luxe off my old Schwinn years ago and threw it away. It mighta been worth more than the rest of the bike.

I'll sell you a rusty one, not Schwinn Approved, for half of that!

And I've got three very crusty, working Schwinn Approved GT 100 rear derailers, for just $50 each! A bargain!

Send payment to: KurtTheBikeDoc@swissbank.net!

Hehehe...j/k of course
