I absolutely hate this song too. It is the worst Christmas song ever.

Christmas..........a merchandising frenzy
JOLLY, JOLLY, JOLLY. BUY,BUY,BUY WHY?,WHY?,WHY?
Has anyone heard the words Birth of Christ?
Two years ago friends decided no exchange of gifts, and no more blasted cards. we went back to the oldfashioned idea....... house visits on Christmas Eve and Day, drop in say high have a drink wish all well and move on. Everyone noted how much more relaxing we all were

Who, the self important rock stars or the starving Ethiopians?
My wife loves the whole 80's pop thing. It's fuggin torture sometimes. She has a documentary on the whole Band Aid thing. It goes something like this:
Crap B grade pommy pop stars get harrassing phone call from dirty looking foul mouthed Irish person to do their part.
Roll out of bed after a night of free top shelf booze and charlie at 10am - four hours earlier than normal.
Tool around in a studio for a couple of hours
Warble a couple of lines to some inane song
Moan about hair being messed up and the lack time to put on makeup
Save world. YAY!
Who, the self important rock stars or the starving Ethiopians?
Yes, to both. :)

Band Aid's 'Do they know it's Christmas?'
With the most confusing, potentially evil line in all of music history....
"Well tonight thank God it's them, instead of you!!!"
Gee, thanks Bono....

Worst: the Paul MsCartney one.
Best: the Run-DMC one.

and while we're talking, I hate It's A Wonderful Life. Oh, sure, I liked it at first, but that was years ago. Now I just can't stand Jimmy Stewart's cheeky George Bailey

Feliz navidad. And it's apparently the Official Song of December in NYC - I hear it dozens of times every day.

Eartha Kit's Santa Baby is pretty high on the fecal roster.
Jimmy Boyd's I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus is number two with a bullet, though.

I hate that one song with the bells. I don't know the name. Everytime I hear it, I start singing that Burger King song "Ding go the fries".
I actually like
Robert Earl Keen - "Merry Christmas from the Family" Almost sums up my dysfunctional family.
Jimmy Buffett's "** ** ** and a bottle of rum"
The Brian Setzer christmas CD - more guitar licks, less blah blah blah.
Long Beach Dub Allstars "I saw Mommy J*cking Santa Claus"
I'm not a big fan of 'traditional' or even Pop christmas music but I do have to step up and give props to a couple of cool pieces I've recently heard
1) Gary Hoey: Carol of The Bells. A mind bending rendition of this choral classic on screaming multi layered guitar. I can't get enough of it!
2) Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO); Wizards In Winter. This is the music behind that house with the syncronized lightshow. TSO seems to be focused on rocking out christmas music. But if they decided to ply their craft on classical music you'd see people buying Bach, Chopin, & Wagner in droves. These guys rock!
I have a cd of really hard core drum n bass xmas songs...it's funny and painful at the same time. Very appropriate for the frenzied shopping mode.

"Rockin' around the Christmas tree"
I dig the old school, as in several hundred years old generally.

Jingle Cats - Meowy Christmas

That horrendous McCartney Christmas song that rears its ugly head every year. "Simply having...." I don't know the rest, as that is when the radio goes out the window.
White Christmas puts me to sleep.
I do enjoy The Brian Setzer stuff, and The Ventures had some cool Christmas tunes done in their surf style.
My favorite is Joseph Spence singing (sort of) "Santa Claus is Coming to Town". You need to hear it to believe it. Check out iTunes to hear a 30-second snippet. It's just inexplicable.

I hate that "Hey Santa" (pronounced "heyyy sannnnna" by the annoying singer) song with a passion. It make me want to stab myself in the eardrums.
The John Fahey Christmas album is pretty great
Trans Siberian Orchestra is currently the wife's favourite
and is pretty good stuff, as is manheim steamroller.
I'm surprized that no one has mentioned this one yet,
In all fairness, and to be politcally correct and give
equal time to non christian persons
Adam Sandler's Hannukah song blows chunk.
I posted this in a different thread but seems appropriate here:
"...and Tommy doesn't know what day it is . . . "
