Did I say 'joys'? Yuck! Rode in the local Great Pumpkin Metric yesterday. Registered to ride the 65 mile route but bailed to the 34 mile route because of the blasted wind! :irritated  Temps in the 40s with winds at 20+ MPH at the ride start and never let-up...what a frickin' joy...NOT! At least I rolled over the 500 mile mark for the year...not bad considering I didn't start riding until the beginning of August...
I wanted to get a metric century in before the weather gets really out of hand...have to wait until next year, then get a real century in...(100 miles...:D )...hopefully...
Geez, you've got the same problem as me. It was so darn windy today! And it's supposed to be like this for a couple more days...:(

I have been wondering about the wind thing too...
How is it that, when riding an out and back route, you get headwinds, both ways??? I don't ride THAT fast.
Grrrrr...

Speaking of wind! Yesterday I would be grinding the pedals downhill topping out at .....19mph  It was pretty discouraging so I ended up cutting the ride short. I sure hope it settles down since I'm in the grove right now and need to take advantage of it by putting in some miles not to mention I would like to set a few PR's. :)

Hey, there is still time, Indian Summer comes round nearly every year to tease us into riding in late October or early November.
I'm with you on the wind / temps yesterday, harbinger of things to come soon to the North Central US, brrrr!

An Indian summer would be nice...wind not included...;)
However, I bought enough cool weather gear for yesterday's ride to get me well into November...one of the good things about moving back to the middle of the mid-West from Minnesota...

there tends to be a lot of wind here (it's a desert duh ;)) but I try not to let it get me down... I just get in the drops and power through it, I also find that with wind, it's a good time to work on my areo form, (hey it's a free wind tunnel  ) but then again whatever doesn't kill you only makes you stronger...
