I loved this movie. Who's seen it?

Great film – beautiful cinematography and two of my favorite actresses: Li Gong and Ziyi Zhang (both of which also appear as Japanese characters -- speaking English - bad idea! -- in the less memorable but also visually stunning Memoirs of a Geisha.)

The futuristic sci-fi part was his imagination – he was writing a novel set in 2046 (also the room number) and those sequences were from his novel – that’s how I took it. If anybody has another theory, please post.

Yeah, that's pretty much it. I saw the futuristic part as his novel "2047" which was written about Chow's past (hence the android who resembles the lady with the glove). Because he wants to go back to the past to recapture lost memories, he writes a novel about the future. Yet he was trapped in the present.
