A guy that I've met out here in Minneapolis is starting up a bike shop really soon. Reading his blog tonight, I saw that he'd asked for help coming up with ideas for a logo.

(Fixie related content for the mods - he also talks about his first fixie project which is almost done in that post. Please leave this here.)

Anyways, he's really going out on a limb starting this place up. He's going for mostly utilitarian, commuter type bikes. Bikes that are good year round (fenders, etc) and not the 'fastest, lightest, most unobtanium components.' Bikes that you could ride a century on, or just cruise to the local store with. He also has a new daughter and a wife to support, and lost his job at the LBS when he signed the lease papers on his own shop (surprise.)

I know that there are a lot of really talented designers on here that could offer advice, or even whip something up in 15 minutes of down time at work that would be amazing. So if you have the skills, take a look at his blog, and if something pops in your head, please pass it on to him.

And, again for the mods, he didn't ask me to post this, and I doubt there will be any money in it for anyone. Just hoping to get a guy who I respect a little help...

Thanks,

Where is the shop? what's it called? You should throw him some free press here for people who might pass on reading a blog

Today I have to design a stupid brochure for estate liquidation, so I might give this a shot to keep me sane.

Sorry - It's called Hiawatha Cyclery, and it's going to be in south Minneapolis. The link is to the post where he talks about what he is looking for design wise.

Yeah, I've been "designing" reading assessments for 5th graders all day and I'm supposed to "make them look just like text books"...I must be insane already. Now where's my ice cream bar?

I'll give it a shot in a couple days if he doesn't get something sooner.
