Evening ride at 6pm Columbus Circle again.

Is that a general statement, or a 6pm ride to 5th avenue for skids?

mrRed
12-21-05, 01:34 PM
there's a 6PM ride starting at columbus circle which will now feature the first annual Pink Thunder Skid Comp™

How is it that this is the only forum that I know of where people are enjoying themselves during the strike instead of being bummed like the other 99% of the commuting public? And yeah, I'm enjoying myself too.

I just read a report that 5th and Madison will be open to all traffic minus one lane, can't be?

F | _ | C K ! ! ! !

alleycat sounds damn good. i'm thinking a combo end of the crazy cristmas week / transit strike alleycat. i've been wearing the same pair of underpants for the past 10 days. one of the preceding statements is false. Vx(Mx > Dx) where Mx = x is a messenger and Dx = x is drunk.

Quantificationally true.

Whoops time to stop studying for logic final.

that's bull**** that they backed off their plan of closing 5th and Madison to general traffic. after only one day? yesterday i was kind of psyched on this strike but today there were FAR more idiots and noobs out there doing really idiotic, noob stuff. far more cars by my estimation, it really is enough to balance out the lack of buses. and now without 5th and Madison being mostly traffic-free... i say screw this, get these obstacles with feet back underground where they belong.

this strike isn't going to end soon, methinks. they've obviously been planning it for awhile, hence the timing. let's take advantage.

Thanks for coming out everyone. 5th Ave was open to traffic, so wasn't quite as fun as the first one. I am 50/50 about tommorrow. If I do do it there will be no sound bike, that was a *****.

Even though 5th was open to traffic I had a fun time riding with you guys. I ended up taking the Brooklyn Bridge home - not the bike path but with traffic. It was a bit lighter than I was expecting so I had to push it to keep up but it was awesome.

email I just sent out to a few lists:

I will not be riding the sound bike tommorrow for the ride. It has really taken a toll on my body, but I will still be attending. Because 5th Ave. is now open to vehicles, the route might change slightly and the speed will be quick. Remember this is a bike-pool, not CM. Talk to the people around you at the meet up and get a general feeling as to how the ride will proceed. Some real fast riders showed up tonight. I would put the number at 20 and mostly track bikes. The ride will end at 49 Houston St., with three major bridges to Brooklyn near by.
Just wanted to throw this out there.

Dec. 22nd, 6pm
Columbus Circle

Oh yeah, and there is a movie tommorrow night.
49 Houston St.

Go Further (2004)
This unorthodox documentary from filmmaker Ron Mann examines the notion that each person has the ability to achieve monumental, far-reaching change by altering the most trivial aspects of their own lives. Join actor Woody Harrelson and a varied cast of characters for a bus ride down California's Pacific Coast Highway to promote social change on a global level by opting to modify our current customary, often environmentally damaging actions.

No it was not Ceya!,

if anybody has someone trying to sell them a left sided Dura Ace Pista 7600 with MKS pedal with white thick toe strap. Take it is mine.

It fell off my bike yesterday while walking on 125 st in Harlem. The bolt wasn't in the crank and since it was dark and alot of people i didn't notice it fell off my bike.

yeah stupid me. back to finals and i should have stayed home!

yo, screw the strike. it turned out to be total crap. -way- more traffic than usual, so many clueless peds (and you thought there couldn't possibly be any more of them in manhattan!), and newbs on bikes doing really idiotic things...

get these idiots back underground. i liked them better there.

12-22-05, 09:42 PM
haha yeah, my attitude towards the fallout greatly shifted as the strike progressed.

Day 1. Awesome! Michele's not going to work and we'll hang!

Day 2. Awesome! Michele's going to work and I'll ride in with her! No traffic, awesome blocked off avenues! Hmmm... lotsa people who don't really seem to know how to walk or ride bikes. The ride home is pretty hectic but still good times.

Day 3. Ok, I'll ride in with Michele again. What? All avenues are open to traffic? Ok, still and emergency lane blocked off. What? No bikes in emergency lanes!? Holy **** there's way more people out, and they seem to even have less of a clue! Oh ****, that ****er just took out Michele!

Oh man, I totally forgot about this:

When we were going down 5th avenue on wednesday this woman shouted at me "You messengers aren't bothered by this, it's just another day to you!" or something to that effect. If it isn't clear it was in a very positive way.

I'm such a posenger.
