Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - IRO MarkV or Specialized Langster?

So i need to get a new bike. It is now between the IRO MarkV and the Specialized Langster. What do you all thinki should get? Which is better/more reliable? and Why?

steel vs aluminum. most people have a very firm preference. it's rarely a toss-up.

everyone on here loves IRO's including me, tony (owner) is an amazing guy and has amazing customer service... also, the majority of people on here will tell you steel is the way to go they all have very understandable explenations..

IRO, built like a tank, good customer service, frame replacement deal...

when it comes down to it, your the one who will have to ride it every day..

Go with the langster...you're obviously not worthy to ride the IRO :D

all kiding aside, i just got an iro angus and i love it, i know a guy who rides a langster and he loves it.

Thanks guys, with the exception of Sr. Sarcasim. The deal i was gonna get for the Langster fell through b/c they only had a 52 in stock. So 300 dollars more/later i ordered the IRO Mark V all black. Should be here in a week.....im so pumped.

i just got an iro and it's awesome. i test rode a langster and didn't think it was anything special, but i've never owned an aluminum frame before. it's kind of a personal preference thing, but if you search back in the forums, pretty much everyone will reccomend iro based on their customer service alone. also, if you're into aluminum, iro also has the jamie roy which i've heard good things about.

i commute 28 miles a day on a jamie roy. get the iro. :beer: :beer:

For every eternal reappearing thread there is eternal reappearing angst and sarcasm. Not that I disagree with the angst and sarcasm. There is after all, a search the forums link.

I'd get the IRO simply because Tony is a great guy selling good product. What does Specialized do? They take a bike with an alright frame but crappy parts and jack up the prices year after year with negligible upgrades. As if they weren't making enough money using Chinese labor.

Tony seems like a standup guy with a good business sense(excellent customer service). I wonder how the guy got started. Any background info on him and his story? does he actually ride bikes?

It's always good to see a smaller independent business owner compete with the bigger companies like Specialized, Jamis, Bianchi.

The vendor wanted insane money for the 9-sp/FG hub.

So we're gonna use standard disc hubs and make Level-type cogs.
