BMX - V-Brakes

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
My Bro and I want to switch to a V-Brake. We have both Front and Rear U-Brakes.The Rear U-Brake doesnt even work it barely stops the person and the bike itself. So the Front U-Brake is like the only one that can stop the bike.So we are thinking of switching to just a rear V-Brake with a Gyro.Would it work properly.Oh and we are going to use the V-Brake on my little bros old Mtn Bike.Would we need to change cables? What do we need to make it work with a Gyro, can you explain?Yes i have used to search function but found nothing that answers my question.

Then you suck at the search function.
A v-brake wont go on u-brake mounts. And there are plenty of way's to get more then enough stopping power out of a u-brake, chrome rim, koolstop pads etc. And if you dont have money for those, find some tar and slap it on your rim.

Learn to adjust your brakes I bet that they are better than you need.

Good advice. A while back, some clown was asking about putting discs on a BMX. Actually, he was asking about disks on a BMX, but we set him straight.
Back on topic, this is a question that hasn't been gone over for at least 3 days now. You cannot mount V brakes because your posts have no provisions for springs. Get some Kool Stop salmon pads, and get them adjusted properly. You may want to consider a straight cable if you've got a Gyro, but that's simply admitting you can't make something work as it should.
