i'm currently using shimano 105 dual pivot calipers that i'm ok happy with. But i was going thru my junk box and rediscovered a pair of shimano 600 single pivot brake calipers that look amazing in quality and looks. I decided to mount these and noticed the front caliper screw/bolt is not long enough to go completely through the carbon fork. is there a longer internal hex nut i can use? has anyone encountered this problem before?

Assuming the Ultegra brakes were originally made to use internal hex nut mounting, the bolts aren't quite long enough to reach the standard hex nut since carbon forks typically have thicker crown than the old steel forks. This is very common.

Longer hex nuts are readilly available and, indeed come packaged with some carbon aftermarket forks. My Kestrel EMS Pro came with one and explicit instructions that it had to be used. Your LBS should be able to either give/sell you one or you can get them from QBP or Bike Tools Etc.

I keep looking, but did not find any place that will sell me this bolt. It does not show on the QBP and Bike Tools etc websites either.... I'll call them tomorrow. Thanks for the possible tip.
