As some of you know, I've built many a wheel with DT spokes and nipples. I have a request to build a wheel set using Wheelsmith spokes. I'll be using the DB14's. It seems the vendor I'm going to use only carries spoke lengths in even numbers.
I've calculated my spoke length as:
Front - 283.7
Rear - 282.9/282.4
For the purposes of this question, let's assume my measurements and calculations are accurate.
With DT spokes, I'd round down to 283 in the front, 282 on the non drive rear and maybe 281 on the drive side rear. That seems to work.
I need counsel from those of you familiar with Wheelsmith product. I understand WS nipples have thread all the way through, so they are more tolerant of spoke length issues. I'd like to go 282 in the front, 282 on the non drive side. I'm not sure where to go on the drive side. 280 seems short. What do you Wheelsmith officianados say? Thanks in advance.
