She had a detached retina and has to have it removed. I just can't get her to keep the eye patch on.

DannoXYZ
12-23-05, 03:55 PM
Wow... how do you even diagnose something like that in a small eyeball anyway? It's not like the rat's saying, "Well doc, I'm seeing double here, and at night it gets worse."

Stacey
12-23-05, 04:02 PM
Well, her eye was a bit cloudy and we took her to the vets. And the lens popped out. Oh crap... <slaps forehead> I refered to that as a detached retina. Duh on me.

Anywho, he did immediate surgery as she was in sever pain from the lens coming off. Hasn't slowed her down a bit.

Greyhounds have a reputation for being wonderful companions. That, and they don't shed much. :D

From what I understand they like to go out for a little short morning excercise then it's couch potato the rest of the day. Am I right?

For the most part, yes. They shed a little bit, but not much...mostly only when you are petting them.

They love to go out like any dog, just be "outside", but in or out, they just "lay around" 90% of the time. Its only when they are all excited because I just came home from work that they might get all excited and run if I let them out back.

Yeah, that is one of the traits of a Rat Terrier. That is the easiest way to tell them apart from fox terrier's and jack russel's. That and the size. She is fully grown at 12 pounds.

I think the main reason she keeps them up is because she isn't going to take a chance on missing anything.

My Jack Russel Terrier (see post #3 in this thread), his ears flop around the place, but they really perk up when he hears me making food or opening a bag of chips. quite funny actually.

They are so cute as puppies, if only they could stay that size. When I first got Alley her whole body would fit in the palm of my hand.

I saw that you keep fish as well. Here is a crappy picture of one of my tanks. It is a 90 gallon reef tank. I also have a 55 gallon with a 10" (SL) red devil cichlid.

Here's my other shelter rescue, Rusty (a.k.a. Ronta, Doodle, Gypsy, etc). Breed: Collie X mutt.
Age: over 15 yrs old, no one knows for sure. She's deaf and nearly blind... and sleeps 90% of the day.

What breed is Squeak?

She is a 'domestic short-hair' but she's our baby and we miss her somewhat (she being in Perth and us not).

We've got another cat, Satchmo, but he's an idiot (and my wife's cat).
