Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Is there a junk yard somewhere for frames with horiz dropouts?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
inquiring minds want to know,,
If I find it, I'm not telling you. I'd become the fixie conversion ebay KING and quit my job so I could do nothing but rescue frames from that junkyard!

It's sweat? Like the bike is so heavy you sweat every time that you pedal?
Or did you mean sweet?

It is called the 'police auction'. You might have to buy them by the 'job lot', though. In other words 100 bikes for $1,000. Otherwise, find out who in your area buys the 'job lots', and buy from them. I bought my Moser that way...........

same here. he actually has so much stuff that there's a pile of lugged frames with horizontal dropouts sitting in front of his garage designated as junk.

back home in Madison WI, there's a guy on the east side whose lawn is overflowing with bikes-- and it's a large lawn. There must be over 200 out there, locked in rows, rusting and cracking and going sour. Every couple Fridays in the summer he puts up a cardboard sign that reads "BIKE SALE". I never got a chance to check it out. Always wanted to, even though I knew it'd be 90% Schwinn Varsities and worse. But you never know when you'll stumble into that once-in-a-lifetime deal!
