Do you think 30 years from now kids will be dropping wads of cash on IRO's?
Will some guy be selling frames in order to buy that rare slightly dented Soma Rush?

it's the same all around, look at cars today, aestetically they're all crap, i think bikes of today will be collectable but only handmade custom stuff, the mass produced stuff now will probably be around and people will ride them atleast the ones that are decently built frames, imagine the kids in 30 years arguing new carbon v. old carbon?

The vast majority of bikes from 30 years ago were also crap. Most of them are long gone. The decent ones are still getting ridden. I got 3 decent frames from the 70s last summer for free. One of them is a Raleigh witth Reynolds 531 main triangle. Adjusting for inflation, I bet that bike cost around $1000 of today's dollars brand new. In other words high quality, but not exotic. It's only the exotics from the 1970s that demand high prices,a nd it's only the exotics from today that will demand high prices in 30 years when the vast majority of today's mass produced bikes will be scrap.

As far as Carbon goes, I doubt if many well-ridden carbon frame swill last 30 years. It only takes one good nick to wreck a carbon frame. the vintage ones that survive in tact will most likely be worth quite a lot due to their rarity.

In 30 years I'll be selling the Bassofixie in a charity auction, and it will fetch major coin because I'll be uberfamous. :p

The bike license on my frame says 1977, it's not pretty to look at but it actually feels better than my other bikes.

If anyone would like to buy shares in my IRO they will be available after the first of the year. I'll make sure your part of the frame doesn't get scratched.

...or just grab their money, wrap the suckers in hemp twine, coat them in shellac and leave them by the side of the road.
