I am getting an awesome present from my team sponser. Next best thing to a new bike. I am receiving the Campagnolo Chorus Gruppo. Can you guys tell me what the main difference between the chorus, centaur, and record gruppos are. And what would this compare to in terms of shimaNO?

Chorus and Record are functionally identical except for two things: (1) Record uses a lot of carbon fiber, (2) Every Record component undergoes a QA inspection [Chorus, like every other component group, is inspected by batch sample].

Centaur is similar to Chorus, but the components are a little heavier and not quite as polished. There is some use of plastic in the hubs, but not a lot. The Centaur crankset/BB are not compatible with the Churus/record crankset/BB. Aside from that, though, I'm not sure most people could tell the difference between Chorus and Centaur blindfolded.

There is a lot of debate, but having used Shimano and Campy components, I would rank the product ranges, from bottom to top...

Xenon = Sora
Mirage = Tiagra
Veloce = 105
Centaur = Ultegra
Chorus = Dura Ace
Record = itself. It's functionally identical to Chorus, but the exotic materials and attention to detail are unparalleled.

You have a very generous sponsor. Chorus is about as good as it gets.

Gotta love the world of racing on a team especially when urr very rich best friend/team leader's dad is the VP at the largest law firm in Toronto. Its the law firm that sponsers our team. They didnt wanna dish out $5000 for a new bike though so Im just gonna throw the chorus gruppo on my SL frame.

I will confirm what was said, Record workmanship is outstanding and to me, components look like works of art. Campagnolo Chorus Gruppo is an great gift, on par with Dura ace... Fantastic gift, be happy.
