Classic & Vintage - Hawthorne serial number - need info

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Howdy folks, I have, what I believe to be, a late 40's early 50's 26 inch balloon tire MWards bike. I've gotten many pics of similar framed and head badged bikes that tells me this is so. My question is how to pinpoint the year. I have legible numbers but have not been able to locate any info on deciphering them. THANKS in advance!!

I hate to say it...actually i don't...but most of the "Classic & Vintage" is classic rode bikes...people don't care about old balloon tire bikes, and the people that do do not respond. myself, I have about 125 vintage bicycles (Higgins, Hiawathas, Raleigh, Schwinn cruisers...too many to list). Sorry this post is so late, but there are places on the 'net that can help. do a Google search for Images (it helps narrow the search.
good luck, and sorry about how late this is.

Also try the Balloon tire/Middleweight forum at http://oldroads.com/ A very good but less-travelled set of forums. Their English Roadster and Vintage Lightweight forums are also firstrate.
