Man, this was going to be easy. i was going to try and use as much american stuff as i could. but american don't make enough parts to have that be feasible. so i was gonna mix. but now i bought italian stem/bars and they are friggin gorgeous. i can't bear mating them to a king headset as planned. too bad i bought my phils. (wheels and bb), can anyone tell me if gippieme or someone like that made headsets and bottom brackets that i could still find in good shape? or pretty much anything italian but campy. (i don't know why i despise campy so much...)

Primax make both headsets and brackets, you might be able to find omas stuff if you search around enough

Sorry this isn't exactly answering your question, but why not go with another american headset manufacturer? In my opinion, American Classic makes some nice looking stuff.

They also make BBs. Probably not the look to go with your Italian stem/bars, but it's worth a shot.

yeah, i dunno
i kinda like the look of the tri lock headsets, but not for this bike. i'll just go with the king, i think...maybe when i get an italian frame i'll worry about that. you know how it is.

gipiemme makes/made really beautiful campy knock-offs. fluted cranks and all.
keep an eye on ebay, stuff shows up periodically.

Don't forget Galli stuff. I have a set of their pista cranks, they's shiny.

I don't know if that was sarcastic or not, but i think it's overpriced, the new cranks are f'in hideous, i don't think the sheriff star hubs are durable enough for street use (not saying they won't work, i just personally wouldn't trust them...for track on the other hand...and the low flange are gorgeous) and the sudden boom in popularity just rubs me the wrong way. seems like everyone want's either campy or njs stuff, but they don't really know why. I don't like paying for names/stamps. (not a personal attack on ANYONE, just my thoughts on it.)

i have no love for campagnolo.
