My rear tires is falling apart so I bought these off bikenashbar. For only $10, I can't complain. Has anybody tried them?

I rode on several pairs of those Panaracers last year. I got the same deal and decided that was a good enough price to experiment. The tires have a really good road feel to them. I especially liked the way they climbed 6-12% grades...once again because of the feel. Some tires are dead and have zero personality, the "Elite" tires do have a character.
The drawback was their longevity. The best I ever got was about 1200 miles, the worst 800 miles. There is also the "wet factor". I had 2 tires on 2 seperate occassions that wore down to casing after riding 30 plus miles in the rain. The first tire flatted twice (wet panaracers attract objects). It had about 550 miles. The second showed casing after 35 wet miles and and punctured in 3 places 1/2 mile from home. It had over 600 miles on it. Definitely dry weather tires with good road manners and great feel.

I've had 2 flats on Panaracer Category Elites in less than 300 miles, so I'm looking for a new tire.

I bought two pairs last year. I think I got about 2000 miles on the first pair and I'm still riding the 2nd pair. They're not a bad tire, especially for $10. The rubber is soft for good traction and the casing is supple for low rolling resistance.

The drawbacks:
1. They are narrower than the listed 23mm. On my rims (Mavic MA-40) they measure only about 21 or 21.5mm.
2. The seem to puncture easily. I ride mostly on county roads out in the boondocks so I don't have too much trouble with this. But if you ride through a lot of debris on the road, these are probably not for you.
3. The wear pretty fast. I rode them until I could see the casing threads thru the rubber to get 2000 miles out of them. That's about 2/3rd's what I typically get with a 700x23 tire.
