For people who do single speed CX, how do you dismount when you come up to an obstacle? Is it SS but not fixed gearing?

I don't think anybody runs a fixed gear in a cross race (I could be wrong...), so a dismount on a SS would be just like one on a regular bike.

ppl race both fixed and ss. the fixie racers are real crowd pleasers and some of them have some serious mojo and make dismounting look easy. it's all a matter of timing....

i race SS/fixed exclusively, as does my team, Trophy Bikes Team SHIFTLESS!!

most of the time i ride it SS, but a couple times this season i raced fixed. an easy way to dismount when fixed gear is to lift you leg over the top tube instead of swinging it around the tire. lifting your leg over the top tube keeps your weight on the saddle, allowing your foot that is still clipped in to continue pedaling. as soon as your free leg is over the bike and clear unclip your other foot and hit the ground running!

and xccx is certainly right, people go crazy when they realize your racing fixed, the cheering is really nice.

one thing that bugs me is when your passing someone and spectators are yelling "come on hes on a singlespeed, dont let him by" like we're at a disadvantage cuz we only have one gear...please! our entire team finished top 10 racing against 'the gearies.' having a SS class just wouldnt make it as fun as beating geared riders!
