Greetings,

I have an 87 Peugeot with the English standard 1.370 x 24 tpi x 118 BB. I am wanting to swap the Nervar double with frozen pedals to a Tiagra triple set just lying around wanting to be used. This is probably heresy to mix these components but hey, it's there. Question is, my BB from the Tiagra triple is also 1.370 x 24 tpi at a length of 115. I installed it without torquing and the cranks cleared both chainstays ok. Can I use this combo? Are there any unforeseen problems I need to be concerned about?

Thanks in advance,
NFields

For the most part the crankset is what determines the bottom bracket spindle length that you need. The one that had been previously paired with the Tiagra crankset is what I would use.

As for the heresy issue, I don't think that the Tiagra crankset will mind. Think of it as the Pugeot contributing almost everything in order to give the Tiagra crankset life again.

You may run into a chain line error. This means you chainrings are either placed too far out or too far in realative to your rear sprokets. Your chain line error can be determined by visiting your local bike shop where they should have a tool to guage this. Chain line error can cause the chain to rub on the front derailleur when you are in a normal riding gear.
